TRON [TRX] to the moon? Mainnet update announced

Tron’s Mainnet received an update on version v1.06, named Odyssey. The update introduced a variety of features focused towards security and increasing transaction speed.

The post on Tron’s official medium page says:

“Most modules and mechanisms have undergone an optimization, with an improved overall performance, signalling steady progress in our development.”

The Mainnet launch is scheduled for 31st May, and with Justin Sun, the CEO of Tron providing constant updates on his Twitter, Tron HODLers are excited about the launch.

The newest update to Tron’s Mainnet includes what is being called ‘bandwidth-based mode’ with the aim of increasing security against DDoS attacks. Distributed Denial of Service [DDoS] is an attempt to make an online service unavailable by overwhelming it with traffic from multiple sources. Blockchains are prone to this, and Tron aims to protect against this using their bandwidth-based mode, which is aimed towards “alleviating the threat of DDoS attacks to account transfer”.

The Transactions Per Second [TPS] limit is also increased, due to a feature called ‘multi-thread parallel verification/signature model’. This seems to be concurrency-processing based feature aimed towards increasing the speed of transaction verification.

Other features of the update include optimizing the peer-to-peer [P2P] module, improving the block update broadcast efficiency. Storage performance was also optimized by using an indexing mechanism with a focus on memory efficiency. The ranking system for ranking of bad nodes was improved through elaboration on the interaction protocol.

Minor changes such as vote freezing and defreezing, along with vote redemption were added. A function test module was added and a number of known bugs were fixed.

Lucien Chen, the Chief Technical Officer of Tron was noted as saying:

“This update offers much smoother connections, higher TPS thanks to concurrency techniques, and a more wholesome, more decentralized voting system.”

Twitter users rejoiced at the announcement.

User Tron Chan said:

Harry, another Twitterati commented:

“Fantastic!! Multi-thread parallel verification/signature module, significantly enhancing overall TPS”

Tron is currently trading at $0.083 and standing at the 10th position by market cap, with a fall of 8.58% during the last week. It went up by 2.93% yesterday, reflecting that a turn around may be on the horizon.
